a heritage as rich as our flavours
Parlour is based in the historic former Hotel Acton, which was designed by Commonwealth Architect John Smith Murdoch as a replica of the Hotel Kurrajong in Barton. The Hotel Acton’s first guests arrived to celebrate the opening of Parliament House on 9 May 1927. Since then, the building was home to everything from the Patent Office and the Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs to the AFP. In fact, part of the Mabo legislation was drafted between these four walls. So, when you walk through our doors, you’re stepping into an integral part of Australian history.
Today, we’re proud to add to the building’s wealth of stories and occasions. Come taste forward-thinking food flavoured by hints of an eclectic and wonderful past.
